Auditions Tips
Audition Tips
- Don't cause yourself any unnecessary stress. Show up for an audition 10-15 minutes early and be prepared to wait.
- You want the director(s) to remember you. If you've been given lines to learn, rehearse them with anyone you can. Being unprepared is unlikely to impress the director.
- We know you're bound to be nervous, but just remember that the director(s) are people too and you'll do a much better job if you're relaxed.
- If you do make a mistake... please, do not get upset or mad at yourself. We are all human and it is OK to make a mistake.
- Simply get yourself together, and start from where you left off. Most of the time the people you are auditioning for will understand.
- Practice makes perfect! As with anything, the more you practice with better you'll be at it.
- Don't chew gum unless you're asked to.
Audition Preparation
- Practice reading aloud something from a book, or newspaper.
- Practice in front of a mirror
- Make sure you learn any lines or speeches given to you. This will show the director(s) you can learn lines.
- If you can, record your own practices and watch them back.
- Remember you only get one chance to make an impression. Make sure you do it to the best of your ability.
